If not food miles - then what?

Food miles is a clear and understandable way of referring to the environmental impact of distributing a particular food. But a life cycle assessment for that food's production and delivery to the consumer might show miles are only a small part of it. We need a better term - perhaps a bit less clunky than ecological footprint.
