Getting stuck into clean coal - the oxymoron

What a mellifluous phrase - clean coal, alliterative, hygenic, almost virtuous. But can it be truthful? Coal is carbon is coal - and it is the carbon that is the problem ... therefore it is coal that is the problem and no amount of spin can change that. We can assist change with 'carrots' and 'sticks'. If you are going to have carrots, make sure that they are tasty. This Age article suggests that Batchelor and Brumby don't seem to understand this when it comes to 'feed-in'tarrifs.
